Edina Country Club Area Undergoes Utility Improvements

The Edina Country Club area to undergo utility improvements starting in 2008 and extending to an expected completion sometime in 2009.  What does this mean? Upgraded sewer, water and street improvements.   Work is to start on the north end of the Country Club area first.

The upgrade to the systems are a result of a number of breaks in the water mains, sewer blockages and deteriorating streets in the area.  Whenever there is major digging in a neighborhood, one can expect to see damage or removal of some trees.  As one can only imagine, that is a big NO for residents, demanding all precautions be taken to preserve the beauty of the area.

The cost of this project is an estimated $19.6 million for which the city will pay $10 million.  The residents will be assessed the remaining  $9.6 million.  This includes capitalized interest as the project will start in 2008 but the local residents will not start to pay the assessment until 2011.

The total per resident assessment will be somewhere between $18,000 and $22,900. The good news for residents who have replaced the water connection recently they will receive a $5,000-$6,000 discount on the assessment.
