What is all the buzz about, the neighbors would like to have a moratorium on allowing residents or home buyers the ability to tear down the existing home and build a super sized home. This buzz exists more so in east Edina than west, primarily due to the lots are larger on the west side.
Neighbors are concerned the super sized home are taking away from the character of the neighborhood. One buyer had an offer on a home in east Edina for a home which he intended to tear it down and re-build a super sized home. His decision was to withdraw the offer. .
This has been an issue before the city council recently where as of yet they have not passed this moratorium. This moratorium was a topic of discussion at the city council meetings on Nov 20th and December 4th.
The moratorium was considered where it may pertain to only certain lot sizes or even part of the city. There were exceptions noted such as where permits were already issued.
This issue will continue be a topic of discussion for the city council.
